Counselling and Psychotherapy
Feel like you’ve lost control? Undergoing a big change? Need to talk to a professional?
Newtown Counselling can help you
I'm pleased to offer a confidential, professional and warm space for you to unpack whatever's on your mind. Anxiety, depression, loss and trauma are some of the main areas I have experience of working with people who've found counselling and psychotherapy useful.
Clients I’ve worked with tell me they've also found therapy helpful if they’re experiencing unexpected mood swings, their sleeping patterns are off, or if they're looking for an alternative to drugs or alcohol to cope with feelings or issues in their lives.
Why choose me?
As a qualified and accredited therapist, I'm continually refreshing my professional skills and knowledge. While listening to clients I strive to apply the Person Centred therapeutic conditions of empathy, acceptance and unconditional positive regard. I also use Psychodynamic therapeutic concepts to understand the roots and formation of an individuals psychological processes. I’m reliable and I’ve over 5000 dedicated hours of experience working with clients.
What is the outcome of working with me?
I've worked with clients who've found it useful to use some of our sessions to process events from their past or present, to begin to feel as well as think, to increase their self awareness, develop their capacity to reflect and to regulate their emotions and ultimately towards greater self acceptance.
Many of my clients have felt a change within the first 6 to 12 sessions and some choose to commit to mid, longer term or open ended therapy.
I strive to create an environment in which you can flourish, so you can begin or go on to feel joy and pain, love and heartbreak, fear and courage.
I can help you to understand yourself better and help you to learn and discover the best way (s) for you to overcome issues and concerns - empowering you with skills for life.
I’d aim to spark a connection, or for you to continue to feel fuelled, with a striving towards fulfilment and in becoming or being yourself.
I warmly welcome you to explore my website and to get in touch if you’d like to set up an initial session or have any questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do sessions cost?
I understand therapy is an investment and I aim to keep it affordable by offering private clients a competitive rate. To give you my full energy in every session I have a maximum number of clients I see a week.
An initial session costs £65 and lasts up to 50 minutes. This gives us a chance to consider if more sessions together would be helpful.
Ongoing in person, online and telephone sessions also cost £65 (50 minutes) and are available for however long we both feel they are useful.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Fees are payable by bank transfer, cash or PayPal, due by the end of each day’s session. Cancellations made within 48 hours of a session are charged at full fee unless agreed otherwise. Advance cancellation and re-scheduling is possible, subject to availability.
Do you offer concessionary rates?
Over the years I've volunteered and worked for charities and government funded counselling organisations. Sessions have been free or low cost, both for clients and for myself.
I understand the importance of high quality counselling and psychotherapy for people on a low or no income.
I’m not offering concession rate sessions in my private practice at the moment. If this is something you are looking for, I would suggest you search for low cost therapy in your area.
